Date: 21st October 2015 Gibraltar Tourist Board and Gibraltar Port Authority Attended 47th MedCruise General Assembly in Sardinia

The Gibraltar Port Authority and the Gibraltar Tourist Board attended the 47th MedCruise General Assembly held in Olbia, Sardinia.

MedCruise is the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports and the General Assembly is held twice a year to discuss issues affecting the industry in the Mediterranean.

Gibraltar Port Authority and the Gibraltar Tourist Board attended in their capacity as members and took part in B2B meetings and workshops in order to speak directly with cruise companies to discuss ways of enhancing the experience for cruise passengers and cruise companies when visiting Gibraltar.

Minister for Tourism, the Hon Samantha Sacramento, said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with other ports and the cruise lines port and discuss areas of mutual benefit. A consistent commitment to MedCruise and these events can have a direct result in cruise business. This year 207 cruise ships will have called at Gibraltar bringing over 290,000 passengers to our shores, that is an additional 27 ships from last year, of which 12 are inaugural calls. We continue to pursue our policy of one to one contact with all the decision makers in the cruise industry outside of these events too and the return on this endeavour is clear for all to see; cruise ship calls are up. The Port of Gibraltar provides excellent and professional facilities to our cruise customers along with those providing excellent services in the private sector.’
